Nothing beats learning with an actual tutor, right? But here’s the thing—some people (including me) don’t always feel confident when learning a new language. Sometimes, having someone watch me struggle through pronunciation or grammar mistakes just adds to the pressure. I love working with a tutor, don’t get me wrong, but there are days when I just don’t feel like interacting with anyone. Maybe I’m tired, maybe I’m not in the right headspace, or maybe I just want to learn at my own pace without feeling judged.
That’s where AI-driven language learning apps come in. French Together lets me improve my French without constantly needing face-to-face interaction. And with AI becoming more and more popular, it’s no surprise that new language learning apps keep popping up. So, when I stumbled upon Langotalk, I couldn’t help but wonder what made this one different. There was only one way to find out: I had to give it a try!
What’s Langotalk all about?

Langotalk is an AI-powered language learning app designed to make conversations in your target language feel natural, friendly, and stress-free. Instead of rigid lessons, it lets you chat or speak with a variety of AI bots on any topic you like, helping you practice in a relaxed environment. The app also provides automatic corrections, so you can improve your grammar and vocabulary as you go. With cutting-edge AI technology, Langotalk aims to make language learning more engaging and adaptive, giving you the freedom to learn at your own pace.
How does Langotalk work?
Start by selecting the language you want to learn which you can easily switch to a different language anytime from your Profile page. Whether you’re diving into Spanish, French, Italian, or any other language, Langotalk tailors its content to your level and interests. No boring textbook stuff here! Langotalk focuses on real-life conversations and practical language skills while still sneaking in some valuable vocabulary and grammar practice.
You can initiate a conversation from any section — whether it’s Chats, Lessons, or even the Home page, where you’ll find fundamental topics.
Langotalk Features
Chats
Langotalk allows you to chat with AI characters, simulating the familiar feel of a conversation on popular messaging apps. You can reply by typing your answer or recording your voice, giving you the flexibility to practice both writing and speaking skills.

Lessons
This is the spot where you’ll find even more cool activities and topics to explore. There are community lessons made by other users, plus your own custom lessons if you’ve created any. These lessons are powered by AI. If you’ve used AI apps before, it’s pretty straightforward, just tell it what you want your lesson to focus on, pick a few preferences, and voilà! The AI whips up a personalized lesson just for you.
That said, there are some limitations. Even if you want to add extra details or customize your lesson beyond the given options, the AI can only create content based on the preferences available. For example, if you’re looking for a feature to help you practice pronunciation, Langotalk can create a lesson that guides you on how to pronounce words. However, if you’re hoping for real-time feedback on each word you say, that’s unfortunately not something Langotalk offers at the moment.

I tried creating a lesson and requested feedback on my pronunciation for each word. It did give me some feedback, but not quite how I expected. Instead of automatically correcting me, I had to ask the AI character things like, “Did I do it right?” to get any feedback. It also provides suggested answers or prompts; without them, the lesson wouldn’t continue as smoothly.
Compared to French Together, where you get instant feedback and a pronunciation score for each item without having to ask, Langotalk’s approach feels a bit less intuitive in that regard.
Home/Lobby
The Home page, also known as the Lobby, is where you’ll find conversations on basic topics: mastering introductions, sharing your emotions, or forging heartfelt connections. Think of it as your warm-up zone before diving into deeper conversations found in the Chats and Lessons sections.

Progress Tracker
The Langotalk Progress section serves as your personal scoreboard, allowing you to easily track your daily growth through the conversations you have completed. It highlights the number of messages you’ve sent, your position on the leaderboard based on points compared to other learners, and the lessons you’ve successfully finished.

Profile Page
In this section, you can adjust the language you’re learning, set your proficiency level, and specify your native language. It’s also where you’ll find your personal collection of saved phrases and words from past conversations.
Create A Bot
This feature can be found in the “More” section. It offers an exciting way to design your own personalized chatbot, perfect for enhancing your language learning journey. With this feature, you can build a chatbot or AI character that matches your style and preferences. Start by giving your bot a name and selecting its gender. But the customization doesn’t stop there, you can go even further by adding details like age, interests, profession, and more. These descriptions will shape your conversations, making them feel more natural and tailored to your chosen bot’s personality. Whether you want a friendly travel enthusiast, a knowledgeable historian, or a laid-back coffee lover, your chatbot will engage with you based on the character you’ve created.

What I Love About Langotalk
Translation is Always There When You Need It
One of the standout features of Langotalk is its seamless translation tool, available in every conversation. If I ever get stuck or second-guess what a phrase means, I can quickly check without losing the flow.
Insightful Feedback for Better Learning
I love how it gives feedback after each message I send. It actually shows how well I did in terms of accuracy, fluency, and vocabulary. It’s nice to see my progress, and it’s surprisingly motivating. Seeing those scores makes me feel like I’m actually improving, which is such a confidence boost.

The Conversations Feel Natural
Unlike some platforms that rely heavily on stiff, scripted dialogues, Langotalk’s open-ended questions encourage natural conversations. No wonder people rave about Langotalk! It’s so simple to use and conversations feel way less awkward. I’ve tried several AI language learning apps, including Jumpspeak, but Langotalk is by far the better choice when it comes to natural interactions. While some apps can feel rigid or robotic, Langotalk creates a smooth, lifelike conversation flow, making the learning experience feel more like chatting with a real person than engaging with an AI.

AI-Assisted Personalized Lessons
Langotalk also gives you the option to create customized lessons designed around your interests and learning goals. While it’s not the most flexible system, it’s still really helpful when I need to zero in on something specific. Like, if I’m trying to get better at casual conversations, brush up on travel phrases, or focus on business vocabulary, this feature comes in handy. It’s especially nice when the regular lessons don’t quite cover what I’m looking for or if I just want to spend more time practicing certain things.

What Could Be Better
Lack of Pronunciation Practice
Since Langotalk is all about improving speaking skills, I feel like they’re missing an opportunity by not having deeper pronunciation practice. Something that really drills down on tricky sounds or points out specific mistakes would be awesome.
No Final Quiz After Each Topic
If I’m being honest, I kind of wish there was a final quiz after each topic. There are some quizzes available in the Chats and Lessons sections, but nothing you’re required to complete before moving on. It’s not a huge deal, though — some people might actually prefer skipping quizzes to keep things flowing.
Key Things to Know Before Using Langotalk
Pricing: Langotalk typically offers a subscription-based model. They offer three different subscription options: monthly, yearly, and lifetime plans. However, you will only have the opportunity to take advantage of a 7-day free trial if you choose the yearly plan. Be sure to check their website for current pricing and available plans.

Languages: Langotalk supports 19 languages including popular ones like Spanish, French, German, Italian, and more. The specific languages available might vary (my Langotalk account shows 19 languages, but their website claims over 20 languages are available), so it’s best to verify which ones are offered.
Human Tutors: Langotalk primarily uses AI for its language lessons, but it doesn’t offer access to human tutors for direct one-on-one interaction. Conversations are simulated through its chatbot system.
Mobile App: Yes, Langotalk has a mobile app for both iOS and Android, allowing you to practice anytime, anywhere.
Offline Practice: Langotalk’s features are mainly online-based, meaning you’ll need an internet connection to use the service and practice with the chatbot.
Writing Practice: Langotalk focuses primarily on conversation practice and doesn’t specifically offer structured writing exercises, but it’s still possible to practice writing informally through chats with your AI chatbot.
Pronunciation: Langotalk does not offer dedicated pronunciation practice, so if you’re looking for help with accents and pronunciation, you’ll need to look for another resource alongside it (e.g., French Together).
Listening Practice: While Langotalk provides conversational practice, it doesn’t have structured listening exercises. However, you can still engage in conversation through chat, which could help with basic listening comprehension.
How to Cancel: You can cancel your subscription using the email confirmation received from their payment provider, Paddle, or by contacting their customer service at hi@arielverber.com.
Final Thoughts: Would I Recommend Langotalk?
So, if you’re going to ask me whether I recommend Langotalk or not — my answer is yes. I really enjoy using Langotalk, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. While it’s a fantastic tool for practicing conversations, its selection of languages is somewhat limited. What stands out most for me, though, is the pronunciation practice — or rather, the lack of in-depth focus on it.
For beginners, Langotalk can be incredibly helpful, offering a comfortable way to build confidence in speaking. However, for advanced learners aiming to refine their pronunciation and achieve a more natural flow in conversations, relying solely on Langotalk may fall short. In those cases, working with a human tutor or using specialized resources like French Together or watching YouTube videos might be a better choice for fine-tuning those details.
Ultimately, your preferences are what matter most. If you feel confident about advancing your language learning journey, it’s a great idea to explore options that let you try before you buy.
